FERRAN AGUILAR

Ferran Aguilar, born in La Seu d'Urgell in 1972, worked for 33 years in the banking sector and currently serves as a sales manager for a company in Andorra. His life changed profoundly with the arrival of his son, David, who was born with a disability. This prompted Ferran to become a passionate communicator and advocate for personal growth, focusing on raising awareness of his son's story as an international example of creativity and resilience.

Motivated by the achievements he achieved with his son, Ferran has promoted various projects with an inspirational and educational focus. These include the book "Piece by Piece," its film adaptation, the Hand Solo brand, the board game "Bullying Pursuit," and its video game version. These initiatives use a unique narrative approach to raise awareness among young people and adults about issues such as bullying, inclusion, and tolerance.

Ferran intensely experienced the emotional impact of having a child with a disability and channeled that experience into a transformative mission. His conviction that sharing David's story would help not only his son, but also many other families and society at large, has been confirmed by the results achieved. This work continues to fuel his passion and commitment to spreading his message of empathy, inclusion, and hope, to more people around the world.

DAVID AGUILAR

David Aguilar was born in 1999 with Poland syndrome—a congenital condition that affects the muscular and skeletal development of the arm. From a very young age, he found in LEGO bricks, a refuge from life’s adversities, especially the bullying he experienced during his childhood. At the age of 9, he began building his own prosthetic arms using LEGO, which not only helped him face his physical challenges with creativity but also led him to discover his passion for engineering. Over the years, he refined his designs, which inspired him to study bioengineering and to complete a master’s degree in 3D design and printing.

Today, David works as a prosthetic designer at the startup, Losfix, where he applies his technical expertise and personal experience to improve people's lives. He is also an ambassador for the Adecco Foundation, promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace. His story of resilience has made him a global role model, and he has delivered talks at some of the world’s leading companies and high-level events. At just 19 years old, he had the honor of speaking at NASA, becoming one of the youngest presenters to do so.

This journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support of his father, Ferran Aguilar, his mother Nathalie, and his sister Naia, who have all played key roles in amplifying David’s message. Together with their extended family, they have launched several projects—including the book Piece by Piece, its film adaptation, the board game Bullying Pursuit, the video game, and the Hand Solo brand—with the goal of inspiring and raising awareness among young people, families, and companies. Through this powerful storytelling, they aim to promote a more inclusive, empathetic, and respectful society.
