Congolese author, Fiston Mwanza Mujila, was born in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, in 1981. Through his literature, Mujila seeks to convey 'a geography of hunger: hunger for peace, freedom and bread'. Tram 83 was published in French in 2014 by Editions Metailie. The English translation by Roland Glasser was published by non-profit US publisher, Deep Vellum, to critical acclaim in 2015. Mujila's debut novel is the winner of numerous international prizes and was long listed for the 2015 Man Booker International Prize. Tram 83 won the prestigious, pan-African Etisalat Prize for Literature 2015. Mujila is currently pursuing a PhD in Romance Languages, in Graz, Austria.
