Terri Ochiagha is based in the UK and is of bi-racial parentage with a Spanish mother and Nigerian father. She holds one of the prestigious British Academy Newton International Fellowships (2014 - 2016) hosted by the School of English, University of Sussex.
To conduct preliminary research for the book, the Spanish Association of Anglo-American Studies awarded her the Patricia Shaw Research Prize. Published by James Currey, "Achebe & Friends: The Making of a Literary Elite", is an edition of the African Articulations series.
