Call Them Feminist Press

Call them Feminist Press provides a window into key justifications for the exciting collaboration between Ghanaian-born editor Margaret Busby, Candida Lacey of Myriad Editions (UK) and 200-plus writers of African descent. The product of their union is my focus: New Daughters of Africa [An International Anthology of Writing by Women of African Descent], follow-up to Busby's Daughters of Africa (1992, Jonathan Cape, UK). With a focus on NDoA, I reference the total project: a showcase of dazzling range in the literary output of the diverse women; a monument in the intergenerational, transnational feminist solidarity against social and political injustice, gender bias and the toxic legacies of slavery and colonialism.
